Father Son Holy Gore - Mayans M.C. Season 5 - Adelita in Bed with MaverickAngel’s been doing the dad thing and it continues to push him away from some of what the club’s been doing. At the same time, EZ’s only burrowing deeper into the club. Again, it’s such a polar opposite of where the brothers were in Season 1 at the beginning of the series, when EZ was leaning out while Angel was leaning in. Except it’s just getting more and more dangerous all the time now. Probably not going to end well, particularly considering it’s a similar trajectory to what went on with Jax Teller in Sons of Anarchy, whose attempts to get him away from SAMCRO only pulled him in harder, more violently.
Angel gets a visit at home from his little brother. He’s ordered to get in the truck and EZ seems on edge. Little bro insists that big bro come along; they have things to take care of, things that don’t involve wearing a cut. Angel has to leave Maverick and Adelita to go along with his brother for… a ride. And it’s not taking them anywhere nice, you can bet.

Miguel’s man Luis is tasked with making sure Emily gets out of bed and out of the house today. He takes her to go shooting guns. Emily doesn’t understand how it’s relaxing, neither does she understand how Luis can love the Galindo family so much. She calls him “a fucking errand boy,” but apologises. They continue to shoot guns together. Maybe it’s not such a bad idea that Emily knows how to handle a gun. Could come in handy later. It’s also not a bad idea to keep close to Luis if Emily needs to have her pulse on things. In other relationship news, Sofia shows up on her ex Tony’s doorstep, angry at him for forgiving her like he didn’t play a part in things. Tony says they owe their daughter “to find peace.” He’s mad at her for wasting her life living in a trailer in some scrapyard. Lord, I hope nothing happens to Sofia because of her relationship with EZ. That would be heartbreaking, though on par for the lives of outlaw bikers.Father Son Holy Gore - Mayans M.C. Season 5 - Emily Learns to ShootOn their ride, EZ and Angel talk, but Angel can’t tell what the hell’s going on with his younger brother. EZ gets talking about their mother: “12 years today that shes been gone.” He then says he hopes their mother will forgive him for what he’s about to do. This makes Angel rightfully nervous, wondering exactly where his brother’s taking him and why. There’s no reason for EZ to kill his brother. So, where ARE they going?!
At home, Felipe tries to look out for Adelita. He tells her to be careful. But Adelita also tells the old man that his oldest son is “a good man with a big heart.” She reminisces about once coming there to kill Felipe, but says she’s glad that never happened. What an odd, albeit wonderful family. Let’s hope not too much more tragedy comes to them; it’s hard not to see SOME coming eventually, in some form.

Out in the desert someplace, EZ and Angel stop at a small house. EZ pulls a gun from the glove compartment. Angel notices shovels in the truck’s pan and his little brother says he’s going to “bury a body.” Little bro orders big bro out of the truck. EZ asks if Angel trust him, to which big brother quickly says no. He insists that this trust issue is what it’s all about, again ordering Angel to go along with him to the house. Angel reluctantly goes, anticipating the worst of his younger brother. EZ draws his weapon and tells Angel to open the door. Then they burst inside, where Happy Lowman’s lying in bed with a woman and dog’s playing nearby. Happy taunts EZ saying he judged EZ for not doing the deed when the chance first came up before. EZ lets the woman and the dog go. Then he asks Happy about the last thing his mother said before she died. Happy responds disrespectfully, even taunting Angel, too. “Shit happens,” he says.
EZ asks Angel to kill Happy. But before anything can happen, Happy goes for his gun, forcing EZ to pop a few rounds into his chest. After that, Angel puts a bullet in Happy’s head to kill him off. What a way for Happy Lowman to die, though after all those smiley faces it was bound to happen sooner or later. This is going to obviously cause shockwaves for the Mayans after the Sons of Anarchy discover what happened. Later, Angel says their mother wouldn’t have wanted any of this, whereas EZ believes “all the Reyes men will ever be . . . is killers.” That’s too much for Angel, who all but literally runs off at the thought.

And WHO is the woman who seemingly tried to take young Cristobal? Very, very creepy.
Father Son Holy Gore - Mayans M.C. Season 5 - Angel & EZ in the DesertSoledad has a stern talk with Adelita. She doesn’t trust the woman who finished off the last of her family. Yet she also wants to see Adelita free from the leverage Potter used to make the former assassin work with her. And thus Adelita’s tasked with a job that must be done by midnight tonight; if she completes it, her and her family are free. Meanwhile, Emily’s at home that night and receives a packaged addressed to Cristobal inside of which is a stuffed animal. She immediately tears the animal open believing something’s inside, except there’s nothing.

That night, after Angel and little Maverick are asleep, Adelita cleans her gun and prepares to go out on the job for Soledad. On the table is a photograph of her target: EZ Reyes. It’s not a simple decision for Adelita. She’s clearly troubled. But she’ll do anything to protect her family, and it looks like she’s willing to kill Uncle EZ to do that. Will she, though?
