Mr. Robot walks down a long hallway. He comes to an conference room, where young Elliot is waiting with his mother. This is like a meeting of all the voices at war within Elliot. Mr. Robot doesn’t think Elliot’s ready for the truth. They’re all at odds. Mom suggests simply trying to talk to him sensibly, whereas Mr. Robot keeps focused on the hack. He has a potential plan for how to snap Elliot out of his daze. “We may lose him forever,” mom says. Mr. Robot thinks Darlene is the key to getting through to Elliot.
Back together again, Darlene and Elliot— who’s under autopilot via Mr. Robot— are ready for the Deus Group to meet. Mr. Robot explains her brother can’t be there with them right now. Things are sketchy. Darlene doesn’t trust this part of Elliot’s personality, but Mr. Robot says her brother will tell her what’s going on “when he‘s ready.” Then, who else but Phillip Price turns up at the apartment. He’s brought info on Whiterose’s project, hoping the hacker will destroy everything. He wants to do right by Angela.
And so it all begins.
Price heads to the Deus meeting, and the hackers prepare their hack.
Things aren’t quite as expected. Only Price heads into the meeting place, and, inside, there’s nobody else other than Whiterose waiting at a single table in the middle of the vast building. What’s really going on? Mr. Robot seeks answers with Darlene, anyplace they can, as they comb through Wellick’s phone details and everything else. Whiterose talks things out with Price, discussing how the older man is going to die— because, one way or another, it seems Phillip will die. Price takes this opportunity to spring the news about Wellick’s “mysterious disappearance.”
Darlene has found a location for where Whiterose diverted the Deus Group’s meeting, so she heads off while Mr. Robot waits around, knowing the Dark Army are there in force because of Whiterose. The hacker sister goes alone to Cipriani on Wall Street, where all the rich and powerful have gathered for the big meet, and naturally it’s swarming with Dark Army operatives.
Whiterose gets a call from Mr. Robot. She’d like to see Alderson face-to-face. There’s even more of a cat v. mouse game happening right now. Whiterose ups the stakes by offering info about Angela, claiming she’s not actually dead. Is there any way that’s possible? Or is Whiterose twisting the knife? Bit cruel with Price across the table, as well. Whiterose is using this as bait, hoping to make Elliot cave. The hacker refuses to give in, unwilling to believe his friend is still alive. He hangs up after turning on the TV and seeing fsociety resurfacing to talk about the Deus Group, exposing them, doxxing their members for all of the world to see.
This puts Whiterose into crisis control mode, as Elliot works behind the scenes to ensure things go as planned and Darlene keeps watch on the street for him. The hacker throws things into chaos and it puts the Deus Group members out into the streets without their vehicles waiting. Darlene’s then able to snag their info while they’re all outside and on their phones. The Deus Group have nowhere to go, stuck with no rides and people swarming Cipriani to see the hideous 1%.
“Are you okay?”
“I don’t know anymore”
Whiterose leaves, with Price in tow. At the same time, Elliot’s running down the time on the hack, seeking the number necessary to unlock everything. For his part, Phillip is doing a great job at drawing things out as long as possible to make sure the deed is done. That’s when Darlene snags the right number— Whiterose’s number. This is what she and Elliot use to devastate the Deus Group, hitting them at the heart of the Cyprus National Bank. The Dark Army’s effectively been disarmed via the siphoning of their money. What once seemed impossible has become possible. Price gets shot by an angry Whiterose, right on the steps, sending people fleeing in the streets.
Elliot and Darlene have done what they set out to do. But there’s always a cost.
Still, there are silver linings after such a hard battle, even when there are casualties. Price was one of them, despite his late turn away from the dark side. And what’ll happen next now that Whiterose and the Dark Army are crippled? She puts on her best face, so that when the authorities come knocking she looks pretty for her mugshot. Or maybe in case she dies— she’ll leave a beautiful corpse.
“And, like that,
What a crazy episode! Some wild things happening.
And there are still several episodes to go. Father Gore wonders how it’s all going to close out. It’s been a turbulent ride from Season 1 until now. So many great characters and plots, all weaved into a magnificent story. All that’s left now, it seems, is for Elliot to confront his trauma.
“410 Gone” is next time.
